Project within the EU 7th framework programme PAGE21, titled: Permafrost carbon in a changing Arctic: On periglacial landscape dynamics, organic matter characteristics, and the stability of a globally significant carbon pool.

Upscaling (quantity), geochemical (quality), and geomorphological (availability) analyses of permafrost soil carbon, based on fieldwork carried out in NE Russia, Svalbard, NE Greenland, and N Sweden.

Thesis and four first author papers:

• Elevation-based upscaling of high arctic permafrost carbon stocks (Weiss et al. in press)

• Potential decomposability in relation to geomorphology in the Siberian Yedoma region (Weiss et al. 2016)

• Detailed molecular characterisation of labile organic matter (Weiss & Kaal, in press)

• Identification of labile organic matter in upper permafrost samples from contrasting circum-arctic environments (Weiss et al. in prep)

Additional activities (selection):

• Part of ICOP2016 Young Researchers Workop organising committee

• President of the departmental PhD council (2013)
